
Stingrays' Parley Named RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Davis Parley of the South Carolina Stingrays is the
RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for January.
The 23-year-old won four of his last five starts to finish the month at
5-1-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 1.00 and a save percentage
of .970 while helping the Stingrays go 6-2-3 and move into fifth place in
the South Division with 44 points and a record of 17-14-10.
Selected in the fourth round (120th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the
2000 NHL Entry Draft, Parley began the month making 34 saves for a 2-1
victory at Greenville on Jan. 1. He went 2-0-0 in his next three starts
while lowering his goals-against average with South Carolina from 3.10 to
2.36 and raising his save percentage to .927 after stopping 77 of 79 shots.
His only loss of the month came on Jan. 22 when he entered the game in the
second period and stopped 19 of 20 shots in a 4-2 loss at Charlotte. He
closed out January with back-to-back wins at South Division leader Florida,
making 26 saves in a 4-1 win on Jan. 27 and 46 saves in a 4-2 win on Jan.

In his third ECHL season, the 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Parley is 6-3-1 with a
shutout, a goals-against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of .935 in
14 games for South Carolina which acquired him from Bakersfield on Nov. 22.
Overall in 2005-06, he is 8-6-2 with a shutout and ranks seventh in the
league with a save percentage of .917 and is 10th in goals-against average
with 2.70.
In 2004-05, the 23-year-old Parley was 3-2-1 with a goals-against average
of 2.87 and a save percentage of .922 in six regular season games and 2-3
with a goals-against average of 3.88 and a save percentage of .897 in five
Kelly Cup Playoff games for Bakersfield. He began the season with the Texas
Wildcatters and was 5-13-7 with a 3.50 goals-against average and .916 save
percentage in 27 games.
In his first professional season in 2003-04, Parley was 18-29-3 record with
a shutout, a goals-against average of 3.89 and a save percentage of .905 in
52 games. He made 63 saves at Pensacola on Jan. 2, 2004, tying him for the
third-most saves in an ECHL game, and finished second in the league with
1,767 saves.
A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Parley played four years in the
Western Hockey League with Kamloops where he was 80-61-10 with a
goals-against average of 3.05 and a save percentage of .907.
