LONG BEACH, CA – The Long Beach Jam (20-7) of the American Basketball Association (ABA) unveiled their weapon of mass destruction Friday night at the Pyramid in Long Beach against the Jersey Squires. Schea Cotton ignited the demolition, by pouring in 19 first-quarter points on seven of eight from the field. When the dust settled, Cotton blasted Jersey for 44 points, missing only four shots from the field on the night.

Jerry Dupree began the game on the bench, but soared once he entered the contest, chipping in 22 points, almost all of the spectacular dunk variety. Kamran Sufi returned to the Jam lineup to blast a game-high 11 assists. As a team, the Jam shot 59 percent from the field.

The Squires feature Morishita Yuchiro from Japan. He is the second player from Japan in the ABA. The Jam's assist leader, fellow countryman and the Japanese pioneer Yuta Tabuse had eight points and five assists in the battle.

The Jam have released Dennis Rodman. The team has resigned Rick Anderson. John Jones has also been added to the roster.

The Jam's next home game is Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. against the Squires.

The first-place Long Beach Jam are pleased to announce that they will host the ABA Championship Game at the Pyramid in Long Beach Mar. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale shortly.
