San Diego Gulls News Release
The Gulls and Falcons have met three times this season with San Diego holding a 2-1-0 edge. The two teams will clash six more times in the regular season.

San Diego owns the all-time series match-up, posting a 65-27-6 record against its Pacific Division rival.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: JAN. 16:
Mark Pederson set a Gulls franchise record by scoring a goal in his ninth straight game, but it wasn't enough as San Diego fell to Fresno, 4-2. Pederson, as he does so often, gave the Gulls an early 1-0 lead before Fresno tied it. He put San Diego ahead 2-1 with his second straight tally later in the first, but the Falcons answered again late in the second. Kevin Truelson netted the game-winner 5:58 into the third before Mike Mathers sealed the Fresno win with an empty-netter.
GULLS UPDATE:
The Gulls (35-11-6) enter the day with the best record in the ECHL, two points ahead of the Wheeling Nailers and Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies... They are four points in front of the Louisiana IceGators for the top spot in the Western Conference and eight points ahead of the Las Vegas Wranglers for first place in the Pacific Division... San Diego has won an ECHL season-high 14 straight home games. The league record for consecutive home wins is 18, set by the South Carolina Stingrays in 1994-95... The Blue and Orange are unbeaten in 17 of their last 18 games (14-1-3) and 30 of their last 34 (26-4-4)...
OTHER NOTES:
San Diego is 32-8-4 against Pacific Division teams, including a 21-1-0 mark at home... Las Vegas is the only divisional opponent to beat the Gulls at home this season... San Diego has outscored its opponents 123-75 during the last 33 games... The Gulls have gone into overtime in five of their last 11 contests. They are 2-0-3 in those games and 6-0-6 overall this season in games not decided in regulation... Trevor Koenig is tied for the league lead with 25 wins... He's tied for fourth among ECHL goaltenders with a 2.26 goals-against average... Back-up netminder David Burleigh is in the midst of a four-game winning streak, which ties his career and season high...
PEDERSON, BARBER, DESCHATELETS UPDATE:
The red-hot line of Pederson, Greg Barber and Sylvain Deschatelets has combined for 97 points (38g, 59a) in the last 22 games... Pederson has 42 points (25g, 17a) in his last 27 games and leads the ECHL with 36 goals... Barber has 35 points (13g, 22a) in his last 22 games and leads all ECHL rookies with 56 points overall... Deschatelets has 42 points (9g, 33a) in the last 27 games...
FRESNO UPDATE:
The Falcons (14-30-6) enter the day last in the Pacific Division with 34 points, 28 behind the Alaska Aces for the fourth and final playoff spot... They also have the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst record in the entire league... Fresno is coming off a 5-4 shootout win over the Wranglers last night. Tapio Sammalkangas won it for the Falcons in the eighth round of the shootout... Last night's victory capped off a six-game homestand, which saw Fresno go 2-3-1... The last time the Falcons were on the road, they defeated the Bakersfield Condors, ending a league-season high 14-game road winless streak... Last night's victory marked the first time Fresno has overcome a deficit when entering the third period (1-26-2)... The only time its come from behind to win when trailing after the first period (1-25-2) was during its last game against the Gulls on Jan. 16...
TRANSACTIONS:
Trent Clark was released on Tuesday... Brian Gornick was assigned by the American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on Feb. 14... Dennis Purdie (shoulder) and Kevin (Grant) remain on the injured list... Josh Gratton remains with the AHL's Mighty Ducks...
