The Nailers thumped the Cyclones 6-0 tonight at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Nailers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period and the Cyclones were never able to beat Tyler MacKay who stopped 20 shots to earn his second shutout of the season.
Jason Jaffray scored 1:02 into his first game back from the American League. Jaffray's first goal of the night was his 24th marker of the year. The Nailers would add a second goal on the power play three minutes later as Jaffray fed Hodge to give the Nailers a 2-0 lead. Eddie Pershin added a shorthanded marker and Alex Rouleau scored his second goal of the season before the first period ended.
In the second, Jaffray scored his second of the night. In the third, Peter Cermak added a goal to his two assists for a three point night in his Nailer debut.
The Cyclones are back in action tomorrow vs. the Nailers at U.S. Bank Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets including on-line at ticketmaster.com and via phone at 513-562-4949. Tickets are also available at U.S. Bank Arena box office.
