
Blades Shut Out Pride3-0

FLORENCE, SC - The Florida Everblades (28-19-10) shut out the Florence Pride (21-26-6) 3-0 at the Florence Civic Center on Saturday night. Florida goaltender Jeff Maund picked up his third shutout of the season and forward John McNabb and defenseman Tim O'Connell both picked up their first goals in an Everblade uniform. The Everblades remained in sole possession of second place in the Southern Division with the win. Florida is unbeaten in their last five games (4-0-1).
In the first period, the Everblades grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the period when defenseman Tim O'Connell collected a Paul Vincent faceoff and wristed a point shot through traffic past Pride netminder Sebastien LaPlante at the 18:38 mark of the period.
In the second period, Florida made it 2-0 when recently acquired forward John McNabb picked up a rebound goal after a Brandon Coalter shot hit off of the back wall behind the Pride net and went right to McNabb who fired it into the net at the 11:30 mark of the period.
The Blades closed out the scoring and made it 3-0 midway through the third period after the ECHL's leading scorer Brian McCullough feathered a pass to Chris Thompson who snapped a shot into the net at the 10:00 mark of the period.
Florida goaltender Jeff Maund (14-11-7) stopped all 25 shots he faced while Florence netminder Sebastien LaPlante (8-4-0) stopped 25 of 28 shots he faced. The Everblades were 0 for 2 on the power play while the Pride were 0 for 1.
The Blades continue their three game road trip in Columbia, SC to take on the division leading Inferno on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. Florida returns home to host the Columbus Cottonmouths in a pair of games on Friday, February 27th and Saturday, February 28th at 7:30 PM.
