
Cyclones Fall to Wheeling, 2-1

The Cyclones dropped a 2-1 decision to the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday night at U.S. Bank Arena. The loss dropped the Cyclones to 21-32-3 on the season.
In the first period, the Nailers jumped to a 1-0 lead on Steve Crampton's 14th goal of the year.
The Cyclones would battle back to tie the game on a shorthanded goal by Evan Cheverie in the second. With the Cyclones killing a 5-on-3 penalty, Cheverie broke into Wheeling territory and slid past the Wheeling defense. Cheverie beat goaltender Tyler MacKay to tie the game at one. Cheverie goal ended MacKay's shutout string vs. the Clones at 90 minutes and 19 seconds.
Former Cyclones Tom Rouleau would score the game winner for the Nailers with 5:17 left in the second. Rouleau forced a turnover behind the Cyclones net and shoveled it past Randy Petruk to win the game. The third period was scoreless, but the Clones enjoyed several good scoring opportunities on a late power play.
The Cyclones are back in action tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in Toledo. The sportsjuice.com pre-game show begins at 2:50 p.m. from the Toledo Sports Arena.
