Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - The Lincoln Saltdogs won twice over St. Paul on Sunday, 14-8 in the completion of a suspended game and 6-2 in the regularly scheduled contest. Lincoln earns a three-game road sweep over the Saints, and improves to 22-13 on the second half of the season.

When play resumed from Saturday's suspended game, Lincoln held an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the fifth. St. Paul scored a run to make it 8-6, but Steve Alexander's RBI single in the sixth restored the Saltdogs' three-run lead. Shawn McGill and Shea McFeely each hit a solo home run in the seventh to make the score 11-6, and although St. Paul scored twice in the eighth to pull within three, the Dogs put the game away with three runs in top of the ninth. Brandon Jones scored on a wild pitch, and Jake Jadlowski hit a two-run single to cap the scoring.

In the regularly scheduled game, which lasted seven innings, Lincoln got an outstanding start from Tim Brown (5-1). The rookie right-hander shut the Saints out for the first six innings, allowing just two hits. The Saltdogs offense plated run in the first inning on Phil Hawke's sacrifice fly, and then scored three more times in the third. Gavin Dickey hit a key two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded, and McFeely followed with an RBI single of his own. The Dogs added their final two runs in the fourth inning, on a two-run double by Rafael Alvarez. St. Paul finally got to Brown in the seventh inning, scoring two runs and putting two more on base, but Chris Thompson came on to strike out the side and earn his 28th save.

Daryl Arreola (1-3) earned the win in the completion of the suspended game, pitching two scoreless innings in relief. Alexander finished that game 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, and Shea McFeely went 2-for-3 with three RBI and three runs. Jadlowski, McGill and Jones also had a pair of hits for Lincoln, and Norm Hutchins hit a solo home run in his Saltdogs debut.

In the second game, McFeely went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Alvarez and Dickey each drove in a pair of runs, and Hawke's RBI was a team-best 54th on the season. The Saltdogs now own a four-game lead over St. Paul in the American Association North, with 13 games to play.

After an off-day Monday, Lincoln will host Grand Prairie Tuesday night at 7:05. Lefty Zac Cline will make the start for the Saltdogs.
