Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

ST. PAUL, MN - Weather kept the Lincoln Saltdogs and the St. Paul Saints from finishing their game on Saturday. Heavy rain in the Twin Cities means the two teams will resume the contest in the bottom of the fifth on Sunday, with Lincoln leading 8-5.

St. Paul took a 4-0 lead in the first inning against new Lincoln starter Justin Knoff, and tacked on a run in the third for a 5-0 advantage. The Saltdogs, though, started another of their patented second-half comebacks in the fourth inning. New designated hitter Norm Hutchins hit a solo home run, Rafael Alvarez followed with a triple, and Shawn McGill hit an RBI single to make it 5-2. The game saw its first rain delay in the fourth, a 12-minute stoppage, and in the fifth, Lincoln jumped all over Saints starter Tom Buske. The Dogs scored six times, with Albenis Machado hitting an RBI single, Steve Alexander cracking a two-run double, Hutchins chipping in a sacrifice fly and Shea McFeely finishing with a two-run single.

The rain had begun falling again during the top of the fifth inning, and became heavier as the bottom of the fifth began. Play was halted with a runner on first and no one out in the frame, and Saints designated hitter Jacob Butler facing a 1-1 count.

Play will resume on Sunday at that point, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:05pm. The two teams will finish the 9-inning contest, and then play Sunday's regularly-scheduled game as a 7-inning contest.

The next Saltdogs homestand begins on August 18. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
