Lexington Legends News Release
(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Beer and baseball have had a long-standing relationship, and the Lexington Legends will help build on that by serving as host for the kickoff of the third annual Lexington Craft Beer Week.
A special local craft beer area will be set up at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Friday, May 8, where representatives from breweries will be on hand to talk about their products. The area will open at 6 p.m., when gates will open for admission to the Legends game against the Charleston RiverDogs. The game begins at 7:05, and the beer serving area will remain open until the end of the seventh inning. Those entering the beer area must be 21 years of age and have a state-issued photo ID.
For $15, fans will receive a box seat ticket to the Legends game and two drink tickets, each good for a 12-ounce beer. Fans who choose not to participate in the Craft Beer Week kickoff may purchase game tickets at the regular prices.
"We're really excited to add the Legends in as a partner for this year's beer week," said Chris Vandergrift of LexBeerScene.com. "Having an event at Whitaker Bank Ballpark gives the week a family friendly event that will hopefully encourage people who may not be able to attend events at breweries or bars to learn about what's going on in Lexington's craft beer scene."
"We are excited to work with the local beer community on this gathering to kick off what promises to be an exciting week in Lexington," said Legends account executive Kyle Hargrove, who is coordinating the event for the Legends. "Craft beer brewing has continued to grow, and Lexington Craft Beer Week will be full of events across town. We are going to launch the week in Stache-tastic fashion."
In conjunction with American Craft Beer Week, Lexington's celebration runs from May 9 through 17 and features special events, tappings and tastings at bars and breweries across the city. It is sponsored by Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling, Blue Stallion Brewing, Brewgrass Trail, Country Boy Brewing, TOPS in Lexington and West Sixth Brewing.
Among the beers to be featured:
Kentucky Old Fashioned Barrel Ale
Kentucky Race Day Session IPA
West Sixth Heller Heaven Double IPA
West Sixth Belgian Blonde
Country Boy Cougar Bait
Country Boy Shotgun Wedding
Blue Stallion German Pilsner
Blue Stallion Märzen
Rooster Brew Sleepy Puppy
Rooster Brew Harrier
