Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 29, 2015) - The Drive accelerated past Kannapolis with 10 runs over the first four innings en route to Greenville's 11-6 win over the Intimidators on Wednesday at CMC-NorthEast Stadium.
Intimidators starter Spencer Adams lasted just 1 and 2/3 innings before Greenville's offense and a trio of early errors ended his evening. Adams (0-2) took the loss, giving up six runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out two. Greenville's Jordan Procyshen put the Drive up 1-0 in the first with an RBI-single, and Javier Guerra helped the Drive overcome a 3-1 deficit in the second with a game-tying 2-run home run. An Ethan Gross second-inning error allowed the go-ahead run to score, ending Adam's night with the Drive ahead 4-3.
Brett Bruening took over on the mound for Kannapolis and allowed a pair of inherited runners to score on a Procyshen 2-run double before getting out of the inning. Bruening spun a perfect third before giving up four runs in the fourth, finish the night with four runs allowed on four hits over 2 and 1/3 innings.
Kannapolis put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first, highlighted by a Christian Stringer RBI-double, and a Mason Robbins infield single to bring in Stringer to help build a 3-1 lead.
Chris Curley homered in the home half of the third to pull Kannapolis with two, 6-4, but the Intimidators would not get any closer the rest of the evening.
Drive starter Jalen Beeks (1-0) earned the win, overcoming four runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings of work.
Michael Suiteer paced Kannapolis by going 3-for-5, upping his average to .302, as the Intimidators offense matched Greenville with 13 hits. Louie Lechich, Eddy Alvarez, and Stringer also enjoyed multi-hit nights.
The Intimidators (8-11) allowed a season-high 11 runs, giving up double-digit runs for the first time since Aug. 22, 2014, at West Virginia.
The Intimidators wrap up this 3-game series against the Drive on Thursday as Kannapolis sends RHP Yelmison Peralta (0-3, 9.69) to the mound against Greenville's RHP Jeffry Fernandez (0-2, 2.63). Thursday's game features Baseball & Brews, a young professionals networking event with appetizers, craft beer sampling, and Intimidators baseball for only $5.
