Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends will be involved in the next episode of the Stephen Strasburg comeback story. The Washington Nationals' right-hander with the $15.1 million contract and 100-mph fastball will make a rehab start tonight for the Hagerstown Suns, the Nationals' class A affiliate, when they take on the Legends at 7:05 p.m. at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown.

Tonight's start will be the third for Strasburg in 2011 as he continues his comeback from a torn ulnar collateral ligament suffered last season. He underwent reconstructive elbow surgery September 3, and did not pitch again in competition until August 7 in Hagerstown. He also made a start last Friday for Potomac, the Nationals' advanced-A team in Carolina League. In the two starts combined, Strasburg has allowed one run on five hits in four and two-thirds innings. He has struck out nine batters and walked none. He is expected to work four innings or throw 60 pitches tonight, whichever comes first.

Strasburg, who pitched in college for San Diego State, was the number one pick in the 2009 major league draft.

Legends' baseball can be heard on ESPN Sports Radio 1300 in Lexington. The pregame show begins at 6:50 p.m.
