
'Dads Announce 2012 Schedule

Hickory Crawdads News Release
HICKORY, NC - With the team approaching the 2011 playoffs, the Hickory Crawdads, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have announced their schedule for the 2012 SAL regular season. The 2012 campaign will mark the Crawdads 20th Anniversary Season, having opened doors for the inaugural season in 1993.
Next season's Home Opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 2012 when Hickory faces off against its in-state rivals, the Asheville Tourists. The Crawdads begin the 2012 season on the road when they visit the Kannapolis Intimidators on Thursday, April 5.
The Crawdads will remain in the Northern Division and will play 140 total games. The season will again be divided into two halves, both consisting of 70 games. The All-Star Break will serve as the divider and is scheduled for June 18-20, with the All-Star Game to be played on June 19 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, the home of the Charleston RiverDogs.
Hickory will face off against its Northern Division rivals 26 more times than against Southern Division foes, with 83 games against Northern teams and 57 against Southern opponents. The Crawdads will take on the Intimidators more than any other team next season, with 22 games scheduled between the two squads. Hickory will also host Kannapolis more than any opponent next season, with 10 scheduled home games. The I-40 rivalry between the Crawdads and Asheville Tourists will be fueled by 12 meetings, eight at L.P. Frans Stadium and four at Historic McCormick Field.

Hickory starts a four-game home series against the Lexington Legends this Thursday at L.P. Frans Stadium. It is Thirsty Thursday, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, featuring $1 can beers and fountain Pepsis. It will be Biker Night, with all fans riding a motorcycle to the game receiving a Half Off Ticket. Also, Banned on Wednesday will be performing live on the concourse after the game! First Pitch is at 7 p.m., gates open at 6 p.m.
