Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - They have been neighbors for 15 years, and for the first time, an assembly of Citadel Cadets will enjoy a special night with the Charleston RiverDogs at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

The entire corps has been invited to attend the August 23 game, along with one guest, free of charge. It marks the first time that the entire Corps has been invited, and it's anticipated that more than 1,000 cadets will attend the regularly-scheduled game against the rival Greenville Drive. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

An alumnus of the college, choosing to remain anonymous, has covered the cost of admittance for the corps and their guests.

"The generosity of our alumni, once again provides for a memorable event that benefits the Corps of Cadets and the greater Charleston community in the start of a new academic year," said Lt. Col. Robert Sberna, Director of The Citadel Cadet Activities.

Loveable mascot Charlie T. RiverDog was recently on campus, training with the corps to see if he has what it takes to be a Citadel Cadet. Videotape of that visit will soon be released to promote the special night on social media channels and The Citadel and RiverDogs web pages. It will also be shown on the Riley Park videoboard the night of the game.

Prior to the game, The Citadel Chorale will sing the National Anthem and Cadet Col. Matt Collier of Greer, the Regimental Commander, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
