STAT OF THE NIGHT: 12 of the 20 meetings between Lakewood and Delmarva have been decided by two or fewer runs. There have been eight games decided by a single run. The three games in the current series have been decided by a total of four runs.
PREVIEW: The Shorebirds were swept in yesterday's doubleheader as they gear up for the series finale against the BlueClaws. The Shorebirds have lost nine of their last 11 games and stand 12.5 games out of first place with only 19 games remaining in the year (10 on road, nine at home). The Shorebirds have not won back-to-back games in the month of August (4-11).
FERGUSON/ADLEMAN FIRST UP: Relievers D.J. Ferguson and Tim Adleman should be first out of the pen today as they both last pitched on August 11.
HORNBACK: After three hits yesterday, Riley Hornback's batting average reached its high mark since May 30 (.217). He went 2-for-3 in the second game, his first multi-hit game since July 25.
22 CAREER WINS: Luis Noel has won 22 career games for the Shorebirds, most in franchise history. He has won three straight appearances and leads the Shorebirds staff with eight this season. Noel won a career best ten games in 2008 for the Shorebirds.
RARE FORM FOR ROTH: Cam Roth dropped his ERA below 5.00 (4.84) for the first time in a month by tossing a 2.2 shutout innings last night. He allowed just one hit. Through four appearances in August, Roth is 0-0 with a 1.86 ERA.
SLIM PICKENS IN AUGUST: The Shorebirds are batting just .205 in the month of August with 39 runs in 15 games (2.6 per). The Shorebirds have not scored more than three runs in the last six games. Five regulars are batting below the mendoza line in August; Brenden Webb (.162), Garabez Rosa (.136), Mikey Planeta (.167), Joe Oliveira (.188) and Mike Mooney (.088).
FATAL FINALE: The Shorebirds have lost six of their last seven series finale's. The lone series finale they won during the span was against Lakewood on August 4 at Perdue Stadium.
