Left Wing Turner Traded to Victoria Salmon Kings

Peoria, Ill. (February 11, 2005) – Rivermen Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced today that second-year left wing Scott Turner has been traded to the Victoria Salmon Kings for financial considerations.

Turner – a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Anchorage, Alaska – collected seven points (2g, 5a) in 23 games with the Rivermen this season. The 25-year-old graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha missed 39 days (11/26/04-01/03/05) this year due to sports hernia surgery. After leaving NCAA Division I University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) 17 games into his senior season, he signed with the Rivermen as a free agent on December 26, 2003. He finished his rookie campaign ranked second among Peoria rookies in goals (11) and points (21).

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL – The Premier "AA" Hockey League. On Friday, February 11, the Rivermen host the Dayton Bombers at 7:30 p.m. at Carver Arena. It's the Third Annual Potter & Anderson Jewelers "Wedding on Ice." Five Peoria-area couples will get married on Carver Arena ice. The team will wear special Valentine's Day-themed jerseys to be auctioned immediately following the game with the proceeds benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois – Peoria Office. On Sunday, February 13, Peoria hosts the rival Johnstown Chiefs for the first time this season. Game time is 3:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. It is the third of four Peoria Journal Star/Insight Media Family Days. Kids 12 & Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission, and there are $2.50 Kids Meals. Scooby Doo will appear courtesy of the Cartoon Network.
