Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

Atlantic City, NJ – Fraser Clair netted the equalizer 31 seconds into the third period with a shorthanded goal and then clinched the win in a shootout to propel the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Trenton Titans before 2655 at Historic Boardwalk Hall in ECHL action Friday. The win snaps the Bullies three-game home winless streak.

Connor Dunlop opened the scoring for Trenton (23-13-7) at 3:48 of the first period when he collected Scott Bertoli's rebound on the weak side and tucked the puck underneath Bullies goaltender Trevor Koenig to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Atlantic City (25-15-6) quickly responded with a power play goal at 14:37 of the period. Jason Notermann made a terrific move wide around Trenton's Paul Brown at the right-wing circle and tipped the puck over the left shoulder of Titans goalie Andrew Allen to tie the game at 1-1. Matt Zultek regained the lead for Trenton at 17:04 of the first when he stripped Ian Walterson of the puck at the Bullies blue line, broke in from the left-wing circle and beat Koenig top shelf for a 2-1 advantage.

It would remain that way until the opening minute of the third period. Colin Shields pushed the puck up the left-wing boards past a Titans defenseman and onto the welcoming stick of Clair who broke in alone on Allen and beat him to the low blocker side 31 seconds into the third to tie the game at 2-2.

Clair and Caponigri each netted goals in the shootout while Koenig stopped all four Trenton shooters.

Trenton out-shot Atlantic City 37-30. Koenig made 35 saves to improve to 13-8-2 on the season. The Bullies went 1-6 on the power play.

Atlantic City returns to Historic Boardwalk Hall at 2:05PM Saturday as they host the Reading Royals. $6 from every $12 Mezzanine Level Ticket sold will be donated to the UNICEF Tsunami Relief Fund. For more information or to order tickets, call (609) 348-PUCK.
