Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride saw their nine-game losing streak end on Friday night, but still came up short as the Greenville Grrrowl picked up a 3-2 shootout win at the Florence Civic Center.

Greenville struck early, scoring the game's first goal just 1:19 into the first period. Nick Boucher stopped the initial shot from Brock Radunske, but the rebound came free in the slot to J.F. Plourde who slid the puck past the Pride goaltender for his ninth of the season.

Pee Dee tied the game just over two minutes later at the 3:57 mark. Tony Johnson's shot from the point was deflected at the hash marks by Steve Cygan, who picked up his first goal with the Pride and his sixth of the season.

It stayed tied until the 7:23 mark of the third period when Alex Kojevnikov put home a rebound of a Plourde shot for his seventh of the season.

The Pride tied the game at 12:38 as Allan Sirois rifled a shot from the left-wing circle past Grrrowl goaltender Jeff Deslauriers for his 16th of the season.

In the shootout, the Grrrowl scored on three of five attempts, while the Pride tallied one goal on four shots.

The Pride return to action tomorrow, hosting the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
