Bombers Knock Out Rivermen In 10th Round

Peoria, ILL – The Dayton Bombers nipped the Peoria Rivermen 3-2 in the 10th round of the shootout in front of 4,739 at The Peoria Civic Center Friday night.

The Rivermen opened the scoring when Kris Kasper beat Bombers goaltender high, glove side at 6:17. SCOTT CAMERON tied the game, 1-1, with his 11th goal of the season at 8:01 of the first period. Then, with Steve Dix serving a slashing penalty for Dayton, Chris Bogas scored a powerplay goal with just 40 seconds left in the period, and the Rivermen led 2-1 after 20 minutes.

The only goal in the second period was scored when Bombers rookie forward TYLER KOLARIK tipped a slapshot from BRYAN NATHE past Alfie Michaud at 15:54, and the team's were tied 2-2 after two periods.

There was no scoring in the third period, and no scoring in overtime. The Bombers received shootout goals from Brent Ozarowski, Tyler Kolarik, Scott Basiuk and Tyler Scott, while Ayers stopped Ed Hill in the 10th round of the shootout to secure the 3-2 victory.

The Bombers host the back side of this home-and-home series tomorrow (Saturday) night when they host the Rivermen in Dayton. Audio coverage at daytonbombers.com starts at 7:00 PM.
