Leading Scorer Wayne Simpson and Forward Andrew Ammon Return to Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, announced today that forward Andrew Ammon has been reassigned to the team from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) and forward Wayne Simpson has returned from his loan to the Bruins.

Ammon, 24, skated in 17 games with the Stingrays this season adding one goal. In four contests with the Bruins, the Anchorage, Alaska, native picked up one tally. Ammon began his professional career this season after attending Princeton University the last four years totaling 61 points (33 goals, 28 assists) in 107 games.

Simpson, 25, leads the Stingrays with 24 points and 15 assists in 32 games this season. The Boxboro, Massachusetts, native buried one goal in four games with the Bruins. Last season, Simpson finished second on the Stingrays and led all team rookies last season with 22 goals and 41 points in 66 contests.

The Stingrays are back in action at the North Charleston Coliseum for a three-game in three-day home weekend starting tomorrow, Friday, January 16 against the Toledo Walleye at 7:05 p.m. Grab a Friday Family Four Pack including four tickets to the game, four hotdogs, four sodas and large popcorn for $55!
