Atlanta Gladiators News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - The Arizona Coyotes, NHL affiliate of the Gwinnett Gladiators, announced that goaltender Mike Lee has been recalled to Arizona on Thursday. For the 24-year-old netminder, this is his first assignment to the NHL in his professional career.
Lee has played in five games for the Gladiators in 2014-15. He has accumulated a 1-3-1 record with a 2.98 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage. Lee has also been with the Portland Pirates of the AHL twice this year, but has not logged minutes during his assignments.
The native of Roseau, Minnesota was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (91st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to this season, Lee played in 29 games for the Gladiators since 2012, totaling a 15-12-1 record, a 2.30 GAA, and a .913 SV%. He has also played in 21 AHL games for the Pirates across that same time span.
Lee is the first in-season call-up for the ECHL in the 2014-15 season. For the Gladiators, this is their fifth in-season NHL call-up in team history. The previous four call-ups were also all goaltenders:
- Adam Munro - Chicago (2/18-2/23/04, 2/26-4/5/04)
- Adam Berkhoel - Atlanta (12/22-12/26/05, 4/8-4/18/06)
- Mike Dunham - Atlanta (1/17-4/18/06)
- Dan Turple - Atlanta (3/26-4/3/09)
Lee will meet the Coyotes in Glendale, Az. before their next game, tonight, against the Calgary Flames at Gila River Arena. The Gladiators will next take on the Florida Everblades in Estero, Fla. on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The team's next home game will be on Monday, January 19th at a special start time of 12:35 p.m. for the Gladiators' annual MLK Kids' Day Out celebration.
