Rapid City Rush News Release
(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush is pleased to announce their annual "Tip-a-Player" event, taking place on Monday, January 26th.
"We are very excited again to partner up with Buffalo Wild Wings and the Special Olympics for our fifth straight season," said Rush Head Coach and GM Joe Ferras. "It is always exciting for all of our players to be involved with these great athletes and young Special Olympians. To be in a different environment away from the rink and have the opportunity to give back to our great community has always been a goal for the Rush organization since its inception."
The event, now in its fifth season, places the entire Rush team in trios with a Special Olympics athlete and a Buffalo Wild Wings server to wait tables throughout the evening. From 4:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., ALL TIPS that the players receive will be donated to Special Olympics Rapid City Flame.
"Working with Matt Benne of Buffalo Wild Wings, along with the Special Olympics Rapid City Flame to make this event come together, has been fantastic over the last five years" added Ferras. "It seems that with each season, the event gets bigger and bigger. It is very heartwarming to see the people of Rapid City, as well as the Rush players, come out for a night that benefits young athletes in our community."
The players will be split between two shifts: one from 4:30-6:30 and the second from 6:30-8:30. WOW! has also generously donated a TV that the team will raffle off at the event as well. $1 gets you an entry into the raffle, with unlimited entries for each person. Be sure to come out for great food and a great evening, and support your local athletes!
