Nailers and Ohio County Family Resource Network Team up for School Supply Drive

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced that they will be partnering with the Ohio County Family Resource Network for a School Supply Drive on January 23rd.

From now through the 23rd, the Ohio County Family Resource Network and the Early Childhood/School Readiness Committee are sponsoring a School Supply Restock Drive. The FRN committees work to assess the needs of the community, and in doing so, discovered that by the midway mark of the school year, many students have supplies that have seen better days. For many parents, money to buy school supplies can be difficult to come by at this time of year, especially after the holidays, and when there are no back-to-school sales.

"We are happy to team with the Ohio County Family Resource Network for this promotion, as schools and education are two areas of concentration in our organization," said Nailers Vice President Craig Bommer. "If we can help give local students the tools they need to succeed, it will help them grow as individuals, which will in turn help to grow our valley," he said. "We hope that our fans will join us in donating school supplies as part of this excellent drive."

Helpful items include: backpacks, pencils, notebook paper, spiral notebooks, erasers, rulers, colored pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, and other common school supplies. The Nailers and the Ohio County Family Resource Network are encouraging fans attending the January 23rd game to donate unused versions of these items, so that the bright, upcoming minds of our fanbase can continue to grow positively in the classroom. Fans can also drop off items at locations such as Easter Seals Rehabilitative Services and Child Resource Center.

The Nailers return to WesBanco area on January 23rd & 24th for a two-game series against Fort Wayne, as the new jumbotron will make its debut. Saturday's game will be Star Wars Night, as well as a Ski Cap giveaway to the first 1,000 kids (14 & under) in attendance.
