Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express made all the key hits in the first two games of the series against the El Paso Diablos. Monday night, though, the Diablos struck back.

El Paso scored four runs in the eighth and twice in the tenth to slip past Round Rock, 7-5.

The Express were cruising along for the first seven innings, with a Mike Coolbaugh home run in the seventh pushing the lead to 5-1. After seeing the Express deliver in the pressure situations the last two nights, however, the Diablos started turning the tables in the eighth.

El Paso got three only singles, but they all came with runners on base. By the end of the inning, the Diablos had tied the game, and set up the crowd of 10,692 for an emotionally charged ending.

The first batch of fireworks came in the bottom of the inning. Manager Jackie Moore failed to see eye-to-eye with the umpiring crew and tried to "diplomatically" share his opinion with the threesome. However, those attempts failed and Moore was ejected. The next pitch, catcher Dax Norris had a similar differing in opinions and was ejected as well.

El Paso broke through again in the tenth against losing pitcher Eric Ireland (1-5). RBI hits by Sergio Santos and Andy Green scored a pair of runs and gave the Diablos their first win of the series.

Brandon Medders (5-1) got the win. The series finale will be Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
