Youkilis Promoted to Triple-A

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox promoted Sea Dogs third baseman Kevin Youkilis to Triple-A Pawtucket following Monday's game. Youkilis will join the Pawsox on Tuesday. A decision on who will fill his roster spot will come on Tuesday.

Youkilis, the # 3 prospect in the Red Sox organization according to Baseball America currently has reached base by a hit or a walk in 62 consecutive games. It is the longest streak of his career and the longest in professional baseball this season. He is closing in on the Minor League Baseball record of 71 consecutive games set by another former Sea Dog, Kevin Millar in 1997.

Youkilis will leave the Sea Dogs having appeared in 94 games with a ..327 average (2nd all-time for the Sea Dogs), 23 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 36 RBI, 86 walks (leads all of Minor League Baseball and is second all-time for the Sea Dogs), and a .487 on base percentage (leads all of Minor League Baseball and is first all-time for the Sea Dogs by 60 points)!

The Sea Dogs continue their series with the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) on Tuesday night with a 6:00PM doubleheader.
