METAIRIE — The New Orleans Zephyrs, the Class AAA Pacific Coast League Affiliate of the Houston Astros is pleased to announce that Astros have recalled Zephyrs outfielder Colin Porter. Porter will take the roster spot of outfielder Brian Hunter who was placed on waivers for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Porter, 27, hit .310 (97x313) with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 89 games for the Zephyrs. His contract was purchased by Houston from the Zephyrs on May 29, and he hit .250 (2x8) with one walk before being optioned to New Orleans on June 7.

Porter was also named the Pacific Coast league Batter of the Week for July 21-27. He batted .500 (14x28) for the week with five doubles, three home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored. Porter is the third Zephyr to win a weekly PCL award this season as Rodrigo Rosario and Doug Sessions were named pitcher of the week earlier.

The Zephyrs conclude a four game series in Oklahoma City on Monday taking on the RedHawks at 7:05 PM. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and calling the action.
