Round Rock Express News Release

EXPRESS NEWS: The E-Train has won the first two games of a four-game series vs. the El Paso Diablos at The Dell Diamond. After winning 1-0 on Saturday, the Express offense came alive last night with an 8-4 win over the Diablos. Mike Coolbaugh went 3-for-5 with a home run and double in the victory. Tonight is game three of the series with $1 hot dogs and sodas, the series and homestand concludes tomorrow.

ALUMNI NEWS: Jeriome Robertson's franchise best nine consecutive victory streak was stopped yesterday by the Chicago Cubs. The former Express and current Astros lefty did not make it out of the 2nd inning.

As the stretch run looms, Morgan Ensberg has earned a chance to be the Astros regular third baseman. It would make Geoff Blum a nice option off the bench, particularly considering Orlando Merced has not produced as expected.

Brian Hunter -- the presumed speed off the bench -- was released after Sunday's game, and the team called up lefthanded-hitting outfielder Colin Porter from Class AAA New Orleans.

Porter was batting .304 with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and 20 stolen bases with the Zephyrs. He was drafted by the Astros in the 17th round in 1998 and had a brief stint with them earlier this year, getting two hits in eight at-bats.

EXPRESS CHARITY BOWLING: Ever wondered if any of the Express players are real athletes? No, not two- sport stars, world-record sprinters, or even bodybuilding freaks of nature. What we're talking about, is can these guys handle a real sport...BOWLING!

Yeah... that's right, BOWLING! It is time for the first Round Rock Express Charity Bowling Tournament. Grab your wrist guard, rosin bag, that pair of Dexter shoes in the closet and knock the dust off your old Brunswick ball.

The tournament is planned for August 14, 2003, and we hope you plan to join in the fun. It will be a short lunchtime event (11:30 – 1:00 PM) at Interstate Lanes – right down the road from The Dell Diamond. Here is the plan; grab a few friends, leave work a little early, and spend lunch bowling with your favorite Express players. The entry fee for the tournament is $50 per person; which includes a catered lunch, T-Shirt, shoe rental, tickets to the Express game that evening vs. the Tulsa Drillers and bowling with a Round Rock Express player or coach.
