
Late Rally Gives Wisconsin Win, 5-3

APPLETON, WI - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell 5-3 this afternoon in a rubber match, as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored two runs in the seventh inning, earning the win. The Hot Rods scored first, and are now 43-14 when scoring first this season.
The Hot Rods jumped on the Timber Rattlers in the top of the first inning. CF Carl Chester was hit by a pitch, and came around to score on a wild pitch when LF Moises Gomez was at the plate. Bowling Green led 1-0.
The Timber Rattlers responded in the bottom of the inning. RF Tristen Lutz doubled and then scored on an RBI single from C KJ Harrison, tying the game at 1-1.
Bowling Green jumped back on top in the top of the second. 2B Trey Hair doubled down the right field line and then scored when 1B Jim Haley hit a ground ball to right field, and the Hot Rods led 2-1.
Wisconsin loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the fourth and tied the game. Four singles brought in SS Trevor Morrison, and it tied the game at 2-2.
SS Taylor Walls hit a one-out double in the top of the fifth, and later scored on a sac fly from CF Carl Chester, giving the Hot Rods the lead back at 3-2.
In a back-and-forth game, the Hot Rods lead didn't last long. After Morrison hit a two out single in the bottom of the fifth, Harrison roped a double to the gap in right-center, knotting the game at 3-3.
The Timber Rattlers took the lead in the bottom of the seventh, scoring twice. 2B Darren Seferina worked a leadoff walk and scored on an RBI double from RF Tristan Lutz. Two batters later, Lutz scored on a sac fly to left, and the lead was 5-3.
RHP Phoenix Sanders (5-2, 2.76) took the loss. He threw one and one-third innings, allowing three hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out three.
RHP Paul Campbell made his Hot Rods debut this afternoon. He threw four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and three runs, all earned. He did not allow a walk and struck out three.
Bowling Green will return home after the off day tomorrow and open up a seven game homestand on Wednesday with the first of three against the Great Lakes Loons. Neither team has announced a starter. First pitch from Bowling Green Ballpark is set for 6:35pm.
