Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Beloit Snappers (affiliate of the Oakland Athletics) in the last game of a three-game series.

Season Series/Current Series to Date: Dayton 1, Beloit 1.

Recent Performances: The Dragons are 2-3 on their current road trip that concludes today. They went 3-3 on the last home stand. Beloit is 14-3 over their last 17 games. They are 8-3 vs. the East Division in the second half.

Last Game: Sunday: Dayton 2, Beloit 1. The Dragons broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the eighth and held on to win. The tie-breaking run scored on a bases loaded fielder's choice groundout by J.D. Williams. The Dragons bullpen combination of Ryan Nutof (W) and John Ghyzel (Sv) tossed four scoreless innings. Alejo Lopez led an 11-hit attack, going 3 for 3 with a walk.

Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons are currently tied for the wildcard slot with Lake County, two games behind South Bend, the second half number one seed. Fort Wayne is one-half game behind the Dragons and Lake County, while West Michigan trails in the wildcard race by one game.

2018 Team Notes

The Dragons 3.36 ERA in the month of July is considerably better than the MWL average for the full season (3.87), but in an indication that July has been a good month for pitchers throughout the league, the Dragons July ERA ranks ninth among the 16 MWL teams.
