Burlington Bees News Release

Clinton, IA (August 11, 2010) - Carlo Testa's two-run jack in the ninth provided a brief glimmer of hope for the Bees just moments before falling 7-5 to the Clinton LumberKings on Wednesday night at Alliant Energy Field.

Testa teed off on reliever Brandon Josselyn with two outs in the ninth for his 11th home run of the year, a shot that brought the Bees to within two. The next batter, Jake Kuebler, grounded out to shortstop to end the game and send the Bees to their eighth consecutive loss.

The big fly capped a flurry of late runs for the visiting club. Deivy Batista drove in a run in the eighth with his second hit of the night, Whit Merrifield drove a sacrifice fly to right in the seventh, and Kuebler came home on a throwing error in the sixth.

By the time the Bees reached the scoreboard, though, they were already down by five after four shaky innings from starter Elisaul Pimentel (L, 9-5). The former Loon allowed five earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in his second loss since coming to Burlington. His counterpart, Yoervis Medina (W, 2-0), picked up his second win in as many appearances with Clinton after twirling five shutout innings with six strikeouts and no walks.

Testa and Batista were the only Bees to log multiple hits. Clinton catcher Henry Contreras drove in two runs on two hits.

The Bees take on the LumberKings at Alliant Energy Field again on Thursday night at 7:00. Listen live at GoBees.com and on News Radio 1490 KBUR starting with the Casebine Community Credit Union Pregame Show at 6:40.
