
Adams Helps Slug Bandits to 9-7 Win Over Wisconsin

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits outslugged the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a 9-7 series opening win. Quad Cities used five extra base hits, including three home runs, to defeat the Rattlers in the first of a three game series at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bandits outhit Wisconsin 11-10 in the victory.
Matt Adams led the River Bandits to the series opening win going 4-for-5 with a pair of extra base hits, including his 19th round-tripper of the season and a double. Adams drove in five and scored a pair of runs. Colin Walsh slugged a solo homer, his first, while scoring two runs. C.J. Beatty added his sixth long ball in a 2-for-5 performance. Beatty chipped in with a pair of RBI, while Ivan Castro went 3-for-4 with a double in the Bandits win.
Shelby Miller (6-5) went five strong for Quad Cities. He picked up his sixth career win after fanning seven and surrendering just two runs on four hits. Jose Rada (2) chalked up his second save of the season after hurling 1.2 scoreless with two strikeouts in relief for the Bandits.
Nick Bucci (5-6) was saddled with his sixth loss of the season. He threw 4.2 innings for Wisconsin and was touched for seven runs, five earned on seven hits. He allowed all three Bandit home runs, but punched out six.
Joe Kelly (6-6) is set to take the hill for the Bandits in the second of three games with the Timber Rattlers on Thursday night. He is scheduled to take on Wisconsin's south paw Del Howell (2-5). It's another Vans' Pizza Pub and Grill Thirst-Day Thursday at Modern Woodmen Park. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
