Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits picked up the series win by taking series finale with the Peoria Chiefs 6-2 in only 5 1/2 innings. The two teams waited out a rain delay in the second inning before rain forced play to halt again after the Bandits batted in the top of the sixth.
Quad Cities got off to a quick start scoring five runs over the first two innings. It all began with a three-run first inning. After a balk put runners at second and third, Rainel Rosario singled home Colin Walsh and Devin Goodwin. Edgar Lara singled home C.J. Beatty for the final run of the innings. The River Bandits loaded the bases in the top of the second on three straight walks before Goodwin and Rosario both drew RBI walks against Peoria starter Su-Min Jung (7-4).
Dean Keikhefer started and went only one inning for the River Bandits. He allowed a run on three hits but didn't qualify for the win. Daniel Bibona was the originally scheduled started and he went four innings in relief allowing just one unearned run on two hits. He picked up the win and struck out six along the way. Jung was saddled with the loss after he was charged with five runs on three hits and six walks over just 1 1/3 innings.
The rain-shortened contest featured 1:48 minutes in delays before finally getting called after a strikeout of Nelson Perez in the bottom of the sixth. Rosario led the way for the Bandits going 2-for-2 with four RBI. Goodwin helped the cause with a 2-for-3 game and two runs scored.
The River Bandits return home on Wednesday to take on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Right-hander Shelby Miller is expected to start for the River Bandits against Wisconsin righty Nick Bucci. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park. UP NEXT: The River Bandits are back in the Midwest League Playoffs and you can be there for all of the excitement of postseason baseball! Ticket information will be released very soon.
