Late Homer Lifts Harrisburg over Curve

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Dario Agrazal pitched seven scoreless innings and equaled a career-best with eight strikeouts for the Altoona Curve but the Harrisburg Senators slugged a solo homer in the eighth to win, 1-0, on Monday at FNB Field.

Chuck Taylor, the first batter to face the Curve (8-9) bullpen and reliever Vicente Campos (Loss, 1-2), worked a 10-pitch at bat and fouled off five straight tosses before he hit his third homer of the year to right for the Senators' (15-2) and game's only run.

Agrazal gave up three hits as he worked around the first in the opening inning, a two-out double high off the left-center field wall in the first inning. He retired the next nine hitters for Harrisburg and that string was broken by Drew Ward's two-out single broke that string in the fourth. Tyler Goeddel added a double with two down in the fifth before the righty from Panama retired his last seven batters. Agrazal did not walk a batter for his fourth straight outing and has pitched 25 innings this season without a walk allowed.

Harrisburg's Wil Crowe matched Agrazal with seven scoreless frames of his own and he struck out seven. The Curve collected five hits and just two runners reached scoring position against the Nationals' No. 5 prospect. Arden Pabst singled and reached second on a sacrifice bunt by Agrazal in the third and Logan Hill doubled with two outs in the seventh and was stranded at third after he moved up on a wild pitch.

Joan Baez and Aaron Barrett (Save, 5) nailed down the final six outs on the mound for the Senators.

After Agrazal's seven scoreless innings, Altoona starting pitchers have combined on 20 scoreless innings over the last three games with five total hits allowed.

Bligh Madris collected two hits for the Curve's lone multi-hit performance.

The series with Harrisburg continues on Tuesday with southpaw Cam Vieaux (1-0, 1.08) will start for the Curve against right-hander Erick Fedde (2-0, 2.50) for the Senators. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at FNB Field.
