LaBarbera's sixth shutout earns Monarchs 10th straight win

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs extend their win streak to 10 games with goals from defenseman Kevin Dallman and right wing Tim Jackman and netminder Jason LaBarbera collected his sixth shutout of the season in front of 7,743 fans at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night.
Manchester (32-12-6-1) is leading the Atlantic Division with 71 points. Lowell (23-21-4-1) is tied for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 51 points.
He had been in Manchester only eight and a half hours but that's all it took for Dallman to score his first goal in a Monarchs uniform. The veteran defenseman took a flight from Washington D.C. into the Queen City arriving around 11 a.m. this morning, missing the morning skate. At 7:32 of the first period, the Monarchs set up in Devils territory on a 5-on-3 power play. Dallman positioned himself at the right point. Cycling the puck, left wing Lauri Tukonen passed the puck over to Dallman who sent it down to center Gabe Gauthier in the right corner. Weighing his options, Gauthier returned the puck to Dallman who snapped a wrist shot from the top of the right face-off circle five-hole on goaltender Frank Doyle.
The teams went scoreless in the middle frame and the Monarchs doubled their lead to 2-0 at 8:41 of the final period. Center Marty Murray started the play in neutral territory by chipping the puck over to left wing Noah Clarke along the left boards. Clarke carried the puck into the Devils zone and blindly backhanded the puck past a Lowell player and onto the stick of Jackman. Murray skated in front of Jackman for the screen on Doyle. Jackman's first shot was stopped by the netminder, but the Monarchs right wing hacked away until it crossed the goal line for his 12th tally of the season.
LaBarbera earned his 27th all-time shutout with 39 saves for seventh place in the AHL's shutout record books. Doyle took the loss stopping 19-of-21 shots.
Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Lowell was 0-for-8 with the man advantage.
