
Columbus Returns Conklin and Konopka to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (February 9, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have returned goaltender Ty Conklin and center Zenon Konopka to Syracuse. Syracuse also announced that they have released goaltender Joel Martin.
Conklin, 30, has appeared in 10 games with Columbus this season, posting a 2-3-1 record, a 3.38 goals against average and a .870 save percentage. In 14 games with Syracuse, he has posted a 2-10-1 record, a 3.33 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. The Anchorage, Alaska, native signed as a free agent with the Blue Jackets on July 6, 2006, after spending five seasons in the Edmonton Oilers organization with whom he posted a 27-19-5 record, 2.49 GAA and .905 save percentage in 60 NHL games.
Konopka, has appeared in three games with Columbus this season, recording 20 penalty minutes. Prior to joining the Blue Jackets organization, he has collected 11 goals, 24 assists and 97 penalty minutes with the Portland Pirates. In 266 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Utah, Cincinnati and Portland, he has 207 points (75g, 132a) and 804 penalty minutes. A native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Konopka was traded by Anaheim to Columbus on January 26, 2007.
Martin, 26, was signed by Syracuse on February 7 and served as back-up in Syracuse's 4-3 loss to Grand Rapids on Wednesday, February 7. He has appeared in 26 games with Trenton (ECHL) this season, posting a 12-10-2 record, a 3.35 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. The Fort Worth, Texas native, appeared in 52 games with Kalamazoo (UHL) during the 2005-06 season, posting a 36-12-4 record, a 2.20 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.
Syracuse visits Manitoba on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 for 8:30 p.m. (EST) match-ups.
