(GREENSBORO, N.C.) Mike Kvasnicka became the first Lexington Legend to hit home runs right-handed and left-handed in the same game, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers pounded out 18 hits and defeated the Legends 13-4 Sunday afternoon.

Greensboro had opened up a 10-0 lead before Kvasnicka connected while batting right-handed in the sixth inning. His second homer came in the eighth. Both were two-run blasts.

The Grasshoppers scored single runs in the first and second innings and added another in the third on a solo shot by Josh Adams, his 12th home run of the year. Greensboro added two more in the fourth on RBI hits by Ryan McIntyre and Austin Barnes. McIntyre was 4-for-6 in the game with five RBI. Barnes drove in three runs, and Wilfredo Gimenez was 4-for-4.

Greensboro pulled away with five runs in the fifth. Matt Smith was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a double by James Wooster. Former Western Kentucky standout Terrence Dayleg struck out, but Gimenez singled, scoring Smith. Rand Smith followed with a single to score Wooster. McIntyre doubled, scoring Gimenez, and Barnes' double brought home Rand Smith and McIntyre, giving the Grasshoppers a 10-0 margin.

With one out in the top of the sixth, Matt Duffy singled and Kvasnicka, batting right-handed against lefty Adam Conley, homered to left field to make the score 10-2.

Greensboro came back with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A single by Wooster, a walk to Gimenez and a single by Rand Smith loaded the bases with two outs, and McIntyre drove in all three runners with a double to right center field.

Kvasnicka's second homer came off right-hander Johnny Omahen in the top of the eighth after Duffy, who was 3-for-3 in the game, singled with two outs.

Conley (7-2), the Greensboro starter, worked the first six innings and picked up the win. Lexington starter Luis Cruz (5-3), took the loss. He pitched the first four innings before being relieved by Nathan Pettus at the start of the fifth. Blake Ford worked the sixth for Lexington, and Euris Quezada did not allow a run while working the seventh and eighth.

The Legends won two of three in Greensboro, and also took two of three in Lakewood for a 4-2 road trip. They return home to start a seven-game homestand Monday night. West Virginia is the opponent for the first three games, followed by South Atlantic League Southern Division leader Asheville for four. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Monday.
