Jensen, Massey, Ignite Tourists Past Power 13-3

In the final game of the regular season between the Asheville Tourists and the West Virginia Power, Asheville defeated the visitors 13-3 at McCormick Field. With the win, the T's took two of three in the series and finished the season series 8-4.

Chris Jensen (6-2, 5.32) earned the win for Asheville by pitching six innings and allowing just two earned runs. The bullpen once again was solid, combining for three innings of shutout baseball.

Alen Hanson, West Virginia's lead-off hitter, led off the ballgame with a Home Run to put the Power up 1-0. Asheville answered by scoring the game's next 11 runs.

Tyler Massey stroked a single off the wall in right, plating two in the second. The T's followed with four more in the third. Sam Mende hit a two-run Home Run and Harold Riggins made it back-to-back long balls with a solo shot. West Virginia committed three errors in the inning.

Asheville went to work again in the forth. Riggins connected with an RBI single, Will Swanner drew a bases loaded walk, and Taylor Featherston smacked an RBI single into left. Massey once again delivered with a two-run single and Asheville led 11-1 after four.

The two teams traded runs the rest of the way with the Power plating an unearned run in the fifth. Brian Humpries hit an RBI groundout to kick Asheville's lead back to 12-2.

In the sixth, Junior Sosa connected with an RBI single for West Virginia. Massey collected his fifth RBI in the eighth and the T's coasted to their 15th home win in their last 17 home games.

Asheville now begins a three game set in Greenville with Game One scheduled for Monday night at 7:05pm.
