Kvasnicka Homers from Each Side, But Legends Lose to Greensboro 13-4

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) Mike Kvasnicka became the first Lexington Legend to hit home runs right-handed and left-handed in the same game, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers pounded out 18 hits and defeated the Legends 13-4 Sunday afternoon.

Greensboro had opened up a 10-0 lead before Kvasnicka connected while batting right-handed in the sixth inning. His second homer came in the eighth. Both were two-run blasts.

The Grasshoppers scored single runs in the first and second innings and added another in the third on a solo shot by Josh Adams, his 12th home run of the year. Greensboro added two more in the fourth on RBI hits by Ryan McIntyre and Austin Barnes. McIntyre was 4-for-6 in the game with five RBI. Barnes drove in three runs, and Wilfredo Gimenez was 4-for-4.

Greensboro blew the game open with five runs in the fifth, and closed out their scoring with three in the sixth.

Greensboro starter Adam Conley (7-2) worked the first six innings and picked up the win. Lexington starter Luis Cruz (5-3) took the loss.

The Legends won two of three in Greensboro, and also took two of three in Lakewood for a 4-2 road trip. They return home to start a seven-game homestand Monday night. West Virginia is the opponent for the first three games, followed by South Atlantic League Southern Division leader Asheville for four. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Monday.
