
Suns Streak Snapped at Seven in 6-2 Loss to Kannapolis

Kannapolis, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (38-24) had their season-best seven game winning streak halted in a 6-2 loss to the Kannapolis Intimidators (29-34) at CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Sunday evening.
Suns starting pitcher Matt Purke (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits over 5.2 innings pitched. Purke struck out five batters, walked four and hit one batsman with a pitch. Brian Goodwin hit an RBI double for the Suns, one of just three hits in the game for Hagerstown.
Intimidators' starting pitcher Scott Snodgress did not factor in the decision after allowing two runs in 4.1 innings pitched. Chris Devenski (4-1) earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief behind the starter Snodgress. Jason Van Skike (1) threw two scoreless to secure his first save of the season.
Catcher Martin Medina had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Kannapolis attack, while Garis Pena went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
The Suns will travel back to Hagerstown and open up a three-game series with the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers) beginning on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Christian Meza (3-1, 3.41) will make his first start of the season for the Suns against Hickory's RHP Santo Perez (2-4, 6.54).
