Jeff Kremer walked and Brandon Newton followed with a blooping single to right-center field. Both runners scored on a strikeout, wild pitch, and subsequent throwing error to first base.

Evansville trailed 7-0 until they got an RBI double from outfielder J.R. Higley in the top of the seventh inning. With the score 7-1, Rockford scored another four runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead.
