Komets on the Road for Three Games in Three Nights this Week

Fort Wayne, IN | Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 --- The Komets hit the road this week for three games in three nights over the weekend.

Friday, Dec. 10, Fort Wayne (5-10-1) at Wichita (9-8-2), 8:05pm ET The Komets skate at Wichita for the first and only visit of the season to the Intrust Bank Arena. It's the first of three meetings this season. The Thunder will visit Fort Wayne for back-to-back games Feb. 4 and 5. The Thunder are coming off a 5-0 setback Saturday night against Mississippi but earned four points for week eight taking two out of three games last week to improve to 9-8-2 for 20 points and fifth place in the Turner Conference. Wichita is idle this week until the Komets visit Friday.

Saturday, Dec. 11, Fort Wayne at Missouri (10-10-1), 8:05pm ET The Komets make their second and final appearance of the season at Missouri. The K's were clipped 2-1 in the first trip to Missouri's Independence Events Center Nov. 13. The Mavericks are 6-2-1 in their last nine games and are tied with Dayton for second place in the Turner Conference with 23 points. Missouri makes it's first and only appearance in Fort Wayne Jan. 19. The Mavericks will host Quad City Friday before welcoming Fort Wayne Saturday.

Sunday, Dec. 12, Fort Wayne at Quad City, 5:05pm ET The Komets complete their weekend road tour at the i wireless Center in Moline, Illinois. Fort Wayne has won the last two meetings against Quad City and leads the series 2-1-0 with seven meetings remaining. The Mallards visit Missouri Friday and skate at Bloomington Saturday before hosting the Komets Sunday.

Home for the Holidays -- The Komets will return Dec. 18 and face the Dayton Gems for the next home game. It will begin a stretch of five out of seven Fort Wayne games at home thru Jan. 1.

Last week in review -- The Komets dropped both games of the week. The Komets' three-game win string was snapped Friday night when the visiting Bloomington PrairieThunder snatched a 5-3 win out of Fort Wayne. It was only the second time in 37 games the Komets have allowed five or more goals in a game. Saturday at Dayton the Komets were clipped 3-2 and fell to 0-3-0 in the season series against the Gems with 11 meetings remaining.

Firsts -- Veteran left wing Tab Lardner skated his first game in a Fort Wayne uniform last Friday night against Bloomington and scored his first goal as a Komet. Center Leo Thomas scored his first two-goal game of the season Saturday night at Dayton. Defenseman Keith Rodger is riding his first point-streak of the season (1 goal, 2 assists) with points in each of his last three games.

Milestones -- Center Mathieu Curadeau has 98 career goals...center Leo Thomas needs one assist to reach 200 as a pro...left wing Tab Lardner has 395 CHL career games after appearing in his first two games with Fort Wayne last week.

Komets at Frontier Fios -- Tuesday, Dec. 14, fans can meet Komet players Leo Thomas, Kaleigh Schrock and Kevin Reiter along with Komet mascot Icy the Eagle at the Coldwater Road Frontier Fios store in the Jo Ann Fabrics Shopping Center from 5pm-7pm.
