Charlotte Knights News Release
(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) - The Charlotte Knights rallied for three runs in the top of the 10th inning en route to a 6-3 win over the Gwinnett Stripers on Wednesday in game two of the six-game series from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. Charlotte scored all three runs in the 10th inning without recording a hit against Gwinnett reliever Roddery Muñoz (0-1, 5.23).
With the game tied at 3-3 thanks to a two-run, bottom of the eighth inning, the Knights and Stripers battled into extra frames on Wednesday. In the 10th, Muñoz walked four batters in the inning and uncorked two wild pitches, which helped the Knights score three times. Jake Marisnick scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, Carlos Pérez drew a bases-loaded walk and Yolbert Sánchez scored when Víctor Reyes hit into a fielder's choice.
Charlotte RHP Lane Ramsey (3-3, 5.40) earned the win after he tossed a scoreless ninth inning, while RHP Edgar Navarro recorded his first save after a solid 10th inning. Navarro, who was promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham on Tuesday, fanned three batters in the 10th for the save.
Offensively, second baseman Lenyn Sosa led the way with three hits. Sosa, who extended his hit streak to 11-straight games, is now batting .459 on the season with the Knights in 11 games played. Designated hitter Oscar Colás added two hits and Marisnick also had a two-hit game.
Catcher Carlos Pérez continued his torrid stretch and drove home three runs on Wednesday. Pérez extended his hit streak to seven-straight games.
The Knights will continue the six-game road trip against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) on Thursday evening from Gwinnett County Georgia. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch of game three of the series is set for 7:05 p.m. from Coolray Field on Thursday.
