Knicks Lose Thriller, Fall to Mad Ants 96-94
January 9, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS, January 9, 2015 - The Westchester Knicks (7-13) found themselves on the wrong side of another thriller tonight, falling 96-94 to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (12-10) with just seconds left on the clock.
The Knicks looked somewhat disordered on the court in the first half, unable to take care of the ball. Fourteen turnovers yielded eleven points for the Mad Ants, who held on to the lead in both of the first two quarters, Westchester behind 50-34 at the half.
Trailing the majority of the game, the Knicks made it exciting per usual. Although Westchester at one point trailed by as many as 18 points, the Knicks slowly crept back into contention, going on a 9-0 run with under three minutes left in the game. The Mad Ants leading 94-89, Walker Russell Jr. hit the three to close the gap 94-92. Drawing a foul with 3.6 on the clock, Russell Jr. sank a pair of free throws to tie it up. It looked like the game would head into overtime, but Fort Wayne's Dahntay Jones decided to end it right then and there with a Mad Ants win, hitting a jumper with 0.3 seconds on the clock.
Guard Andre Barrett led the Knicks with 18 points, adding seven assists and five rebounds. Darnell Jackson ended with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Ben Strong and Thanasis Antetokounmpo each had 14 points on the night.
Mad Ants forward Andre Emmett was the leading scorer for the game with 25 points. Ramon Harris added 18 points with four assists, while Will Frisby knocked in 13 points, also contributing four rebounds.
The Knicks have a quick turnaround on the road as they travel to Canton tomorrow to take on the Charge, the official NBA Development league affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
