May 4, 2015 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
Bowie right-hander Branden Kline tossed seven shutout innings Monday night, leading the Baysox to an 8-0 shutout over the Akron RubberDucks at Prince George's Stadium.
Turning Point
Two homers helped the Baysox take an early lead against Akron starter Ryan Merritt (1-2). Newly acquired Brandon Snyder, a former number one pick by the Orioles in 2005, belted a solo shot to center in the second inning, his second of the year. In the fourth, Snyder singled just ahead of a two-run homer by Jason Esposito that extended the lead to 3-0.
Mound Presence
Kline (3-1) dealt seven innings and held the RubberDucks (12-12) to just two harmless singles. He walked four and did not record a strikeout. Lefty Ashur Tolliver finished the whitewash with two scoreless innings. Merritt, who notched his first AA win against Bowie on April 24th , was charged with six earned runs in six innings.
Duck Tales
Tyler Naquin was 1-4, and extended his hitting streak to eight games, which is the longest streak on the team this season. Tony Wolters reached base three times on a single and two walks. Todd Hankins, who started in left field for the first time this season, was 1-4, and has now hit in seven straight games.
