NEWS AND NOTES

MEET THE METS: The Sea Dogs continue their seven-game roadtrip on Monday night against the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium...This is Portland's first trip to Binghamton since splitting two games in the 2014 Eastern Division Championship Series...The B-Mets have won five straight from the 'Dogs, dating back to last year's playoffs...Portland took two of three from Reading to start the trip, their first road-series win this season.

ALMOST: Jantzen Witte nailed a two-out, 2-run double in the ninth inning, but Portland's rally fell short, losing 6-5 at Reading on Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium...Witte picked up his first 4-hit game in Double-A, hitting his second homer and smacking a pair of doubles...Ben Lively (2-0) earned the win for Reading, tossing six innings on 7 hits, 3 runs and fanning 9...Luis Diaz (0-2) took the loss, allowing 8 hits and 4 runs over 5.2 IP...Art Charles and Brian Pointer each homered for Reading, who scored single runs in the final five innings.
