Kings Sign Westgarth To Multi-Year Deal

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have signed forward Kevin Westgarth to a multi-year entry level contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Westgarth, 23, played in 33 games this season as a senior for Princeton University and had 24 points (8-16=24) and 40 penalty minutes. His 16 assists were third on the team, his 24 points were fourth on the team and his five power play goals tied for second on the team. He played all four seasons at Princeton and had 60 points (25-35=60) and 160 penalty minutes in 116 games.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound native of Amherstburg, Ontario, played for the Chatham Jr. Maroons of the Western Ontario Junior Hockey League prior to attending Princeton. He was awarded the team's Academic Player of the Year Award in 2001-02 and the Barry Wiseman Memorial Award for excellence in scholastics and on-ice performance. At Princeton, Westgarth also played with his brother, Brett, who is a defenseman.
