Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-With the number of remaining games dwindling and with Milwaukee and Peoria separated by little in the standings, tonight's game at the Bradley Center had notable playoffs implications. With both team's goalies pitching perfect games in regulation and in the overtime, the Admirals found themselves in their second straight shootout. But the luck of Irish wasn't with Milwaukee tonight as they were edged by Peoria in the sixth round of the shoot-out and fell to the Rivermen 1-0.

As the final shooter for the Admirals, Chris Durno was given the daunting task of scoring the tying goal to send the game into extra rounds.

His low shot on goaltender Marek Schwartz's stick side found the back of the net and drew the home crowd to their feet.

But in the next round Peoria's Mike Glumac slipped one through Pekka Rinne's five-hole, and Chris Durno was unable to repeat his previous heroics as Schwartz was awarded the win and the shutout.

"It's pretty frustrating to watch," said Coach Claude Noel, "and to coach."

Frustrating that Rinne had a perfect thirty-four saves on as many shots, and the offense wasn't there to put it away.

"We weren't very good," added Noel. "I don't know if they were much better. We tried but we couldn't execute plays or passes."

Over the past two games, the Admirals were only able to muster up two shootout goals in seventeen chances.

"I think a shootout is a reflection of your skill level," Noel explained after the game inferring that being good at shootouts is either something you have or don't.

He added, "I've got bigger issues than shootouts. The loss of [Alex] Henry is not going to be great."

A minute and a half into the overtime Henry was finishing a pass out of his own end when Glumac caught his leg finishing a check.

Henry tried to get up and skate on, but promptly fell to the ice.

The end result was a fight between defenseman Kevin Klein and Glumas, but no penalty.

"Well, I think he made the right call," said Noel of the man with the orange band. "I thought the referee was great tonight."

Henry will be fully evaluated tomorrow, but Noel's post-game evaluation left him with the feeling that the defenseman will be out 4-6 weeks.

The Admirals are now down two defenseman. The other, Mikko Lehtonen was lost to a trade deadline deal, while their top scorer's, Ramzi Abid and Rich Peverley, are on assignment in Nashville.
