
Kings Select Fourth Overall In 2007 NHL Entry Draft

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, hold the fourth selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft following today's NHL Draft Drawing in New York. The Chicago Blackhawks hold the first selection in the 2007 Draft, which takes place June 22-23 in Columbus.
The Kings currently have 22 total draft selections over the next two NHL Entry Drafts.
2007 NHL Entry Draft:
First-Round: 1 Selection
Second-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick each from Dallas/Vancouver)
Third-Round: 1 Selection (includes one pick from Dallas)
Fourth-Round: 1 Selection (includes one pick from Calgary)
Fifth-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick from Tampa Bay)
Sixth-Round: 1 Selection
Seventh-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick from Columbus)
2008 NHL Entry Draft:
First-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick from Dallas)
Second-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick from Calgary)
Third-Round: 2 Selections (includes one pick from the NY Rangers)
Fourth-Round: 3 Selections (includes one pick each from Tampa Bay/Vancouver)
Fifth-Round: 1 Selection
Sixth-Round: 1 Selection
Seventh-Round: 1 Selection
The Kings have not selected in the top-five since they chose Olli Jokinen with the third overall selection in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. The other top-five selections in Kings history are: Aki Berg/third overall/1995; Wayne McBean/fourth overall/1987; Jimmy Carson/second overall/1986; Doug Smith/second overall/1981; Larry Murphy/fourth overall/1980 and Rick Pagnutti/first overall/1967.
The 2007 NHL Entry Draft will take place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. The first round will take place on Friday, June 22, beginning at 7 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast on VERSUS. The subsequent rounds (two through seven) will begin at 10 a.m. (ET) on Saturday, June 23.
The order of selection for the first 14 drafting positions in the first round of the 2007 Entry Draft is as follows:

4. Los Angeles Kings
5. Washington Capitals
6. Edmonton Oilers
7. Columbus Blue Jackets
8. Boston Bruins
9. St. Louis Blues

12. Montreal Canadiens
13. Toronto Maple Leafs
14. Colorado Avalanche
The remaining draft positions will be determined at the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
