Kings Recall Voynov

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled defenseman Slava Voynov from Manchester and have placed defenseman Alec Martinez on the injured reserve list (retroactive to November 12) due to an upper body injury, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Voynov, 21, has two goals and three points (2-13) in five games with the Kings this season. The 5-foot-11, 199-pound native of Chelyabinsk, Russia - who recorded his first career NHL goal on his way to a three-point game at Dallas on October 27 - also has a plus-3 rating with the Kings this season. In eight games with Manchester this season, Voynov has three points (2-13), two penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. Voynov, selected by the Kings in the second round (32nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, made his NHL debut with the Kings vs. St. Louis on October 18.

Martinez, 24, has two goals (2-02) and two penalty minutes in 16 games with the Kings this season, his third with the club. The native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, suffered an injury in the Kings game vs. Minnesota on Saturday (November 12). Martinez was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (95th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and he has seven goals, 18 points (7-1118), 22 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in 80 career NHL regular season games - all with the Kings.

The Monarchs return home to the Verizon Wireless Arena to take on the Worcester Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011.
