Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled forward Teddy Purcell (emergency recall) from the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Purcell, 22, has played in five games with the Kings this season and has one assist (his first career NHL point) and zero penalty minutes. He made his Kings/NHL debut at Edmonton on January 15. With the Monarchs, Purcell leads the team in scoring (58 points) and assists (42), and both totals also rank first among rookies and third overall in the AHL. The 6-foot-3, 177-pounder was named MVP of the AHL's All-Star Classic on January 28, 2008, after collecting a hat trick during regulation play and then scoring the decisive goal in a shootout to give the Canadian AHL All-Stars the win. Purcell was also named AHL Rookie of the Month for November after recording 17 points (5-12=17) in 12 games. Purcell, who signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 27, 2007, is a native of St. John's, New Foundland.
The Monarchs return to the Verizon Wireless Arena to face-off with their divisional rival the Lowell Devils on Friday, February 15. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGIR-AM 610 and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
