In Thursday's action, Brett Sterling scored twice, including his league-leading fourth overtime goal of the season, to lead Chicago past Milwaukee, 3-2... Dan DaSilva tied the game with 23.4 seconds left in regulation and Lake Erie went on to post a 5-4 shootout win over Hershey... On Wednesday, Mike Morrison stopped 41 shots as Bridgeport blanked Worcester, 3-0.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Binghamton, 10-3-1-2 since Jan. 5, makes its first of four visits this season to the Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse on Friday... The teams have already played four times down in Broome County, with the Senators winning the last three... Both clubs enter the weekend with one-point leads for the final guaranteed playoff spot in their respective divisions... Binghamton boasts a league-high 15 shorthanded goals this season, while Syracuse ranks second with 13... Sens forward Justin Mapletoft is the league's individual leader (7), while the Crunch's Derek MacKenzie has three shorties this season and 24 for his AHL career... Three players - with a combined seven AHL All-Star Classic appearances - are tied for Binghamton's team scoring lead: Denis Hamel (22-14-26), Josh Hennessy (13-23-36) and Lawrence Nycholat (10-26-36)... Syracuse is playing 20 of its final 26 games at home beginning Friday.
Portland enters the weekend in third place in the Atlantic Division, preparing to square off with the two teams above it, visiting Providence on Friday and Hartford on Saturday... The Pirates (31-17-2-3) sit four points back of the Wolf Pack and 12 behind the league-leading Bruins... Andrew Ebbett is sixth in the AHL with 52 points and tied for fourth with 41 assists... Rookie Bobby Ryan has five goals and 10 points in seven games against Providence on the year... Jason King has recorded seven goals and three assists in his last nine games for Portland... Providence forward Aaron Slattengren has three two-goal games to his credit, accounting for all six of his goals in nine games as a Bruin.
West-leading Chicago brings a six-game winning streak to the MetroCentre to take on second-place Rockford on Saturday... The Wolves have outscored opponents 21-6 during their run, which has lifted them six points clear of the IceHogs atop the division... AHL scoring leader Jason Krog, who has 11 points in six games against Rockford this season, has been held scoreless in back-to-back contests for just the third time all season... Brett Sterling, who led the league with 55 goals as a rookie in 2006-07, is one off the lead this year with 27 goals in 41 games for Chicago... Ondrej Pavelec has won five straight decisions and 18 of 23 (18-5-0) sinc Dec. 13... Rockford was 1-4-1-0 while Martin St. Pierre was on NHL recall to the parent Chicago Blackhawks; St. Pierre was returned to the IceHogs this week... The Wolves are 17-for-48 (35.4 percent) on the power play in six games against Rockford.

On Thursday, seven members of the 2007-08 Albany River Rats were in the lineup for Carolina in a 4-2 win over Pittsburgh, including Ryan Bayda, who scored his first NHL goal of the season, and Joey Mormina, who made his NHL debut... Cam Barker scored a goal and Jordan Hendry notched an assist for his first NHL point as Chicago beat Nashville, 6-1... On Wednesday, Vladimir Sobotka's first career NHL goal was the game-winner as Boston edged Pittsburgh, 2-1.
